Laser Skin Treatments are used to treat a variety of skin conditions including age spots, sun spots, pigmentation, redness, rosacea, spider veins and freckles. These pigmented areas can be difficult to live with, making those who struggle with them feel as though they need to wear heavy make up, stay covered during the summer months, avoid social situations or generally not enjoy their skin's beauty.
Indigo MedSpa uses the latest in technology for the treatment of these conditions, the Cynosure Elite Laser, which can be targeted to treat an extremely small area. The ability to pinpoint only the area which needs targeted treatment helps Indigo MedSpa's medical professionals provide optimal results in less time. Clients can expect a diminished appearance of these skin conditions using the energy from a laser.
Sometimes these same skin conditions are treated using Intense Pulsed Light (AFT). Typically, lasers are used to treat small areas such as sun spots, age spots, small areas of redness or pigmentation and distinct spider veins because the laser can be targeted to a very small area of the skin. If clients suffer from freckles, age spots, redness and pigmentation over large areas of their body, such as freckles all over one's décolléte, Intense Pulsed Light Treatments (fluorescence treatments) are used, as they are best for treating larger areas.
During your consultation, your individual skin condition will be accessed and a treatment plan will be tailored to your skin's needs.
Sun Spots/Age Spots/Liver Spots - flat pigmented spots that vary in size, most often occurring on the face, hands, shoulder and arms as a result of repeated sun exposure. They can also develop with age.
Freckles - Freckles are flat, light brown or red, and are common in those with fair complexions. They are concentrated clusters of melanin in the skin which are genetically passed on.
Rosacea - a skin disease which causes a flushed or red appearance in the skin which typically appears in sufferers who are in their 30's or 40s. Rosacea also can cause spider-like veins, hard pimples or raised blemishes in the affected area. In advanced rosacea, the face may swell and the nose can become red and swollen.
Spider Veins and Broken Capillaries (telangiectasias, spider angiomas), Cherry Angiomas - also known as vascular lesions, these conditions are caused by malformed or broken blood vessels near the surface of the skin.
Laser therapy has been used in medicine for over 30 years, and the advanced lasers which are available today allow for targeted results on small skin areas. The laser focuses a beam of energy onto the pigmented area being treated. This energy causes the area to heat up, destroying the damage. During this process the SmartCool unit blows cool air to keep the skin cool and comfortable. Clients may experience some discomfort during the procedure, but this is typically minimal and brief. The surrounding healthy skin is not affected by this process, and the destroyed spot, vein or pigment sloughs off or is reabsorbed into the skin over a period of weeks.
Following treatment the area will continue to lighten and be reabsorbed by the body, revealing a fresh youthful complexion. Clients may experience some slight redness or tenderness in the area treated. Others may experience some mild localized bruising. Symptoms usually dissipate within the first few days following treatment. "After my great experience with laser hair removal and microdermabrasion, I finally decided to do something about my spider veins. Every woman has something about themselves that they just can't stand, and for me, it was the spider veins. I've always been unhappy with them, and instead of hiding them, I decided to do something about them. I have a job that requires a lot of time spent at a desk, and the effects of that were really starting to show on my legs - but not anymore! After every laser treatment more of the veins disappear right before my eyes..." Click here to read more.
