FAQ - Skin Health & Anti-Aging

Do the laser treatments hurt?

The amount of discomfort felt during the treatment varies by person. Most of the discomfort is felt on the area being treated, and diminishes several seconds after the treatment ends. Some swelling may occur once the procedure is finished. After treatment, a skin soothing lotion will be applied to help with this effect.

What are the benefits of a chemical peel?

Indigo offers diagnosis and treatment for these skin concerns, and our licensed medical doctor, Dr. PreFontaine, will help to determine the best course of treatment for your concern.

What's the difference between laser treatments and Intense Pulsed Light Treatments?

These two treatments can have the same anti-aging effects on the skin, and are often used to treat the same concerns such as age spots, sun spots, freckles, rosacea, pigmentation and spider veins. Laser treatments are used to treat small areas, such as specific age spots, spider veins, and specific freckles, as this treatment can be targeted to a very small radius of skin. IPL treatments are used to treat larger areas, and are the best choice for the treatment of freckled skin, large areas of sun spots, and large areas of redness.

What is a microdermabrasion treatment?

Microdermabrasion is a two part process which removes the top, dead layer of skin, boosts production of new cells, helps balance skin tone and boost collagen production. First the skin is gently exfoliated, than suction is applied to the face to stimulate production in the deeper layers of the skin.

Does the microdermabrasion treatment hurt?

Our medical-grade microdermabrasion causes little, if any, discomfort. Most people do not experience any discomfort. Some clients with sensitive skin may compare the feeling with a slight wind burn.

Does the ultrasound treatment hurt?

No. Ultrasound treatment uses high sound frequencies to stimulate the tissues. These sound waves do not cause any pain or discomfort for the patient.

What dermal fillers do you use?

Indigo currently uses Juvederm™ Radiesse®, and Evolence® for dermal fillers. All are next generation wrinkle fillers approved by the FDA. Juvederm is a smooth gel made from hyaluronic acid, which is naturally produced in the body. Radiesse is a bio-compatible compound made of calcium-based micro-spheres suspended in a water based gel, and Evolence is made of natural porcine collagen. All treatments are minimally invasive and help to hydrate and give volume to problem areas. They also help to stimulate collagen production. These fillers are used to treat smile lines, naso-labial folds, and drooping corners of the mouth and/or lip area, as well as to fill out and define thin lips. Fillers, on average, last for more than a year; saving time and money.

What is BOTOX Cosmetic?

Botox Cosmetic is a non-surgical, minimally invasive procedure to help treat moderate to severe frown lines, forehead lines, and crow's feet (lines around eyes). Botox is a FDA-approved formula containing proteins produced by Clostridium botulinum bacterium. This protein blocks signals to the muscles that cause frown lines, creating smoother skin. Botox Cosmetic can last up to four months and results are visible within a couple days of treatment.
