A Note from the Indigo MedSpa Team

Led by Dr. Stephen PreFontaine, our medical director, we are a dedicated team of nurses, estheticians, massage therapists, consultants, and office staff. We invite you to take some time for yourself. We all need some pampering every now and then, and aside from pampering, we all need to keep an eye on our health and wellness.

At Indigo we believe in a holistic approach to care. Beauty on the outside begins with a healthy body, and through tailored treatment plans for every client, we hope to help you look and feel beautiful on the inside and on the outside. Stephen PreFontaine, DO - Medical Director

Dr. PreFontaine is board certified in Family Medicine. Along with his role as Medical Director for Indigo MedSpa, Dr. PreFontaine is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine for the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Michigan State University. He is a Member of the American Society of Lasers in Medicine and Surgery, and has a professional interest in the treatment of acne and rosacea. Dr. PreFontaine is skilled in the use of BOTOX® for facial aesthetics and for the treatment of excessive underarm sweating (hyperhidrosis). He is also trained in the use of dermal fillers for the correction of skin folds and lines, as well as lip augmentation. Dr. PreFontaine enjoys working to help people obtain confidence in their appearance and in the way they feel about themselves.

Lynne PreFontaine, BSN, RN - Manager

With a passion for helping others, Lynne attended Grand Valley State University and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1993. She went on to work within many different areas of medicine all across the country including spinal cord injuries, gastroenterology, plastic surgery and orthopedic surgery.

While living in Colorado she took the opportunity to volunteer for a medical campaign, traveling to Mante, Mexico to perform surgeries on the indigent population - one of the most rewarding experiences of her nursing career. She later took a position as the head nurse at Webster Surgery Center in Oakland, California, an outpatient surgery center specializing in Plastic and Orthopedic surgery. Lynne's approach to beauty and wellness is holistic, and she believes true beauty begins with an emphasis on holistic health.

Mary Ewald BSN, RN - Head Nurse

Mary graduated from Michigan State University in 2003 with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree, and has worked for Indigo MedSpa since May 2005. She has also worked in the fields of Adult Gastroenterology, and Pediatric Asthma and Allergy.

Annette Guild BSN, RN - Nurse

Annette Guild holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Franciscan University. She also is a Registered Nurse (RN) in both Michigan and Ohio. She has had a lifelong pursuit of a "natural" approach to healing, and this approach was put to the ultimate test when she was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in April of 2007, and given just one year to live. She responded by taking an aggressive, all natural (no chemotherapy or radiation) approach to fighting the cancer, and in July of 2008 celebrated her 1 year anniversary of being totally cancer free. In July 2008 she received her certification as a Natural Health Practitioner through the National Association of Certified Natural Health Professionals.

Linda Bentzen BSN, RN - Nurse

Linda has been with Indigo for 4 years. She graduated with her BSN from Northern Michigan University. In her years as a nurse she has worked in many different disciplines. She has experience in orthopedics, intermediate care and acute dialysis. She has also worked in rehabilitation.

Kendra Rice - Laser Practioner/Esthetician

Kendra became a licensed esthetician through Booker Institute of Cosmetology. She then received her Board Certification, for Electrologist and Laser Technician, from the Florida College of Natural Health. She joins us after spending 3 years at The Breakers Resort Palm Beach as a Spa Consultant.

Sue Keena-Heirman - Head Licensed Esthetician

Sue has been a licensed esthetician for over 15 years with the last 13 years in medical practices. She has worked for top plastic surgeons and dermatologists here in Grand Rapids and Birmingham, Michigan. She has trained all over the United States and Canada in the many aspects of spa and medical skin care. Sue has trained many estheticians throughout the years and has taught Medical Skin Care at Blue Heron Academy in Grand Rapids. She has worked with hundreds of patients with almost every type of skin condition.

Ashley Rebar - Licensed Esthetician and Massage Therapist

Ashley is a Licensed Esthetician and Certified Massage Therapist. She received her esthetician license through Kent Career Technical Center and attended Blue Heron Academy where she received three certifications as: Medical Assistant Paramedical Skin Care Specialist, Medical Spa Therapy Technician and Cosmetic Massage Therapist.

Terri Ewald - Consultant

Terri has been a consultant with Indigo MedSpa for 4 years. She is the person to call to get all of your questions answered in regards to skin rejuvenation and laser hair removal with knowledge of skin products and other services here at Indigo.

Karie DeWald - Medical Assistant

Karie DeWald has worked for Indigo MedSpa for over than 3 years as Client Coordinator, Medical Assistant and certified Ionithermie™ therapist. She graduated from Davenport University in 2007 and is working towards getting her nursing degree.
